Brazzaville, Republic of Congo 20th July, 2018: The Regional Inter-Ministerial Committee comprising the Minister of Foreign Affairs from the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), are to meet in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo on 21st July, 2018 to analyze political and security situation in the region and receive a report from the ICGLR National Coordinators on the proposed restructuring of the ICGLR.

Preceding the meeting, the Chiefs of Intelligence and Chiefs of Defence Forces/Staff of the ICGLR Member States held their meetings on 12 -14 July and 17 – 18 July, respectively. The meeting is convened in the quest for finding lasting solutions to peace and security challenges in the region, and in furtherance of the objectives of  the ICGLR Pact on Security, Stability and Development in the Great Lakes Region and its related Protocols;

The meeting convened by Republic of Congo as Chair of the ICGLR, will be attended by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs or their representatives from the following ICGLR Member States: Republic of Angola, Republic of Burundi, Central African Republic,

Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Kenya, Republic of Rwanda, Republic of Sudan, Republic of South Sudan, United Republic of Tanzania, Republic of Uganda and Republic of Zambia.

The meeting will also be attended by the ICGLR Executive Secretary as well as ICGLR Secretariat Senior Officers; the Commander of the Expanded Joint Verification Mechanism (EJVM); the Coordinator of the Joint Intelligence Fusion Centre (JIFC); the Director of the Lavy Mwanawasa Centre for Democracy and Good Governance and the Acting Director of the Region Training Facility to eradicate Sexual Gender Based Violence.
