The International Conference on the Great Lakes Region(ICGLR) has received financing from the World Bank towards the Great Lakes Displaced Persons Project, and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consulting services. The Levy Mwanawasa Research Centre (LMRC) is also implementing the project.

The objective of the project is ‘to support regional learning on development responses to forced displacement’. ‘Forced displacement’ refers to the situation of refugees, returnees, internally displaced persons and host communities who have been affected by forced movement due to conflict. ‘Development responses’ refers to medium term approaches that encourage the socio-economic inclusion of these populations.

The consulting services include the Displacement Specialist to provide the technical guidance to the project, ensure the technical strengths of all activities and facilitate stakeholder’s engagement on the topic.

Under the supervision of the Project Coordinator and as a key member of the Project Coordination Unit (PCU) the Displacement Specialist will support the PCU in implementing the project on displacement issues within the ICGLR Secretariat.
