- Research Specialist for the Project-Lusaka. Deadline: 9th April 2018 at 16:00 Bujumbura local time (14:00 GMT).

The International Conference on the Great Lakes Region(ICGLR) has received financing from the World Bank towards the Great Lakes Displaced Persons Project, and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consulting services. The Levy Mwanawasa Research Centre (LMRC) is also implementing the project.

The objective of the project is ‘to support regional learning on development responses to forced displacement’. ‘Forced displacement’ refers to the situation of refugees, returnees, internally displaced persons and host communities who have been affected by forced movement due to conflict. ‘Development responses’ refers to medium term approaches that encourage the socio-economic inclusion of these populations.

The consulting services include the Research Specialist to lead the management of the research component of the project under the overall supervision of the Levy Mwanawasa Regional Centre Executive Director (ED) and under direct supervision of the Project Coordinator. The Research Specialist will be responsible for the overall technical strength of all research activities and engagements relating to displacement.

The Research Specialist will:

Facilitate the full participation of ICGLR member states in undertaking research initiatives, which can inform policy dialogue around development responses to forced displacement;

Be responsible for the planning, the implementation of the research activities and closely monitor and evaluate their progress, final results and achievements to ensure that objectives are achieved, and that technical rigor has been applied at all steps of the projects;

Develop and ensure the review, quality assurance (QA) processes and completion of the concept notes and  applied  research  proposals under the project to be implemented  in   cooperation with the identified experts or partners;

Be responsible for the rigor and robustness of the methodologies of all research projects as well as the analysis and clarity of presentation of results;

Strengthen knowledge generation by participating in and supporting the facilitation of learning events or workshops related to the research portfolio
