- International Consultancy: organizational assessment and strengthening of the ICGLR. Deadline, 20 May 2019

The EU-funded project ‘UN in support of peace and security in the Great Lakes region’ was launched in December 2018. The overall objective of the project is the promotion of ongoing peacebuilding and consolidation efforts in the African Great Lakes Region, in support of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR). The project considers the following areas: Disarmament, Demobilization, Repatriation, Reintegration and Resettlement (DDR/RR); strengthening of the ICGLR fora’s (i.e. the women, youth, civil society and private sector fora) engagements with ICGLR consultative/decision making processes; and prevention and suppression of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).
The project was developed following a decision by the EU to support regional activities which promote sustainable peace and security in the Great Lakes Region in line with the Peace, Security and Cooperation (PSC) Framework. It is implemented jointly by the UN (through the Office of the Special Envoy for the Great Lakes, UNDP, UN Women and UNFPA) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), in coordination with the ICGLR.
